Architecture month ’24 walking route: transformation in Rotterdam

Be surprised by the stories behind the facades. In honor of Rotterdam Architecture Month ’24, the Broekbakema team has put together a special walking tour so you can admire heritage transformation with your own eyes. Walk through the heart of the city and learn more about the stories hidden behind the facades.

UNIQUE WALKING ROUTE THROUGH THE HEART OF ROTTERDAM

During this 6-kilometer walking trail, explore 19 buildings that play an important role in the more than 100-year history of our architectural company Broekbakema. From the Schielandshuis (where Napoleon stayed) to Lijnbaan (the first car-free shopping promenade). ‘It is the opportunity to discover some of Rotterdam’s history and heritage and to hear how we can restore existing buildings to their former glory with an eye for monumental values,’ said Marius Voets, architect-director at Broekbakema.
